“abiding in the teaching of Christ” - 2 Jn 9

(Who Needs Salvation and How To Be Saved)

Man is lost in sin and needs salvation.  Rom. 3:23
"for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God."

If man dies in his sins he cannot go to Heaven. John 8:21
"...and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come."
That leaves only one other place to go -- Hell!
(Rev. 20:15, Matt. 25:46, 7:13-14).

Man's only hope is God.  Eph. 2:12
"...having no hope and without God in the world."
Man must come to God to be saved from sin and its consequences.

Jesus declares he is the only way to God.  John 14:6
"Jesus said unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

In John 6:44 Jesus explains that no man can come to him except the Father
draw him, then further explains in verse 45 how God draws man to him

"....And they shall all be taught of (from) God.  Everyone that hath heard from
the Father, and hath learned, cometh unto me."

The way to God through Jesus is a teaching/ learning process.
God's word teaches us, we learn from it, and thus come according to what it tells us.
The result of this process is faith in God and in Jesus as the Son of God. (John 20:31)

"So faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ." - Rom. 10:17.

"Without faith it is impossible to please him, for he that cometh to God must believe
that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek after him." - Heb. 11:6.

"Except ye believe that I am he, ye shall die in your sins." - John 8:24.
Man who does not believe in God as revealed in the Bible and in Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God,cannot be saved from his sins.  As Jesus said, he will die in his sins and cannot go to Heaven.  It makes no difference who he is, without faith there is no hope!

Read 1 Cor. 13:1-3 where Paul points out that without love nothing else will save us.
We can speak in tongues, have all knowledge, have all faith, and even give our bodies
as a sacrifice.  But without love it profits us nothing.

Faith in an honest heart results in love for God and Christ. The honest heart that
understands what God has done for him, especially the sacrifice of Jesus for our sins,
cannot help but love God and his Son.  We must love (agape) God and our
fellowman to be saved.  Without love there is no hope!

"Jesus answered and said unto him, if a man love me, he will keep my words: and my
Father will love him and we will come in and make our abode with him." -John 14:23

"For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his
commandments are not grievous." - 1 John 5:3

Contrary to the teaching of many denominational preachers obedience is just as important
to man's salvation as faith and love.  In fact, Jesus said that if man does not obey
him he does not love him (Jn. 14:15, 21, 23).  We are also taught by God's
word that the only ones Jesus will save are those that obey him Heb. 5:8-9.
Without obedience there is no hope!

Rom. 6:16-18 (illustrated below) tells how & when we are freed from sin!

Sinner } Obeys  From  Heart
Is  Then  Made Free From Sin and
Becomes the Servant of God...

Obey  that  doctrine  delivered.....

In Acts 2, men who believed and loved God learned from Peter's sermon that Jesus
was the Christ (Acts 2:22-36) and wanted to know what to do (v. 37).  Peter told them
in verse 38 to repent and be baptized in Jesus' name for the remission of sins.
He said they needed to do this in order to be saved (v. 40).

This is what Paul said the Roman brethren had done to be justified from sin (Rom. 6:3-11).
He says that man is baptized into Christ, into Christ's death, and into our death to sin that
we may be raised to newness of life.  He says that in this baptism the body of sin
is done away and that having thus died one is then justified.

When one is free from sin, having thru faith been baptized into Christ,
the Lord adds him to His church (Acts 2:47).

Now, as servants of God, we are to serve him faithfully, that is, live according to his
instructions, continue obeying him in worship/ spiritual service and
in moral living (Rom. 6:12-23, John 4:23-24, 1 Pet. 1:22-2:5, Rev. 2:10).

This service to the Lord includes becoming part of a local church and with other Christians
worshipping God according to instructions in his word; and living as the Lord directs in
that way he says is straitened and narrow, but leads to eternal life (Matt. 7:13-14).

Where do you stand in relation to Christ?  Remember Jesus said that
"if you love me, you will keep my word".  Have you in faith, repented and
been baptized into Christ?  If so, are you now obeying him morally
and spiritually?  If you are not obeying the Lord------

WHY  TARRIEST  THOU?  (Acts 22:16)
