Rom 6:17  But thanks be to God, that, whereas ye were servants of sin, ye became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching whereunto ye were delivered;  18  and being made free from sin, ye became servants of righteousness.

4. The ONLY tool the Christian has is the power of persuasion – This is what God ordained!!!

2 Cor 5:10  For we must all be made manifest before the judgment-seat of Christ; that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he hath done, whether it be good or bad.  11  Knowing therefore the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are made manifest unto God; and I hope that we are made manifest also in your consciences.

1. He desires transformation of the whole man which begins with “the transforming of the mind”

 D. God is not interested in forced or bribed obedience

Act 19:24  For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, who made silver shrines of Diana, brought no little business unto the craftsmen;  25  whom he gathered together, with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this business we have our wealth.  26  And ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying                                            that they are no gods, that are made with hands:

Act 18:12  But when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him before the judgment-seat,  13  saying, This man persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law.

“abiding in the teaching of Christ” - 2 Jn 9

Rom 12:1  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service.  2  And be not fashioned according to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, and ye may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

"Love               More"

1. When compelling reasons are given for a different course of action a person can be convinced (by persuasion) to change his mind and conduct…

Act 28:23  And when they had appointed him a day, they came to him into his lodging in great number; to whom he expounded the matter, testifying the kingdom of God, and persuading them concerning Jesus, both from the law of Moses and from the prophets, from morning till evening.

Act 26:27  King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest.  28  And Agrippa said unto Paul, With but little persuasion thou wouldest fain make me a Christian.  29  And Paul said, I would to God, that whether with little or with much, not thou only, but also all that hear me this day, might become such as I am, except these bonds.

Act 26:16  But arise, and stand upon thy feet: for to this end have I appeared unto thee, to appoint thee a minister and a witness both of the things wherein thou hast seen me, and of the things wherein I will appear unto thee;   17  delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom I send thee,  18  to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive remission of sins and an inheritance among them that are sanctified by faith in me.  19  Wherefore, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:  20  but declared both to them of Damascus first and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the country of Judaea, and also to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance.

How To Change People
Our mission (individual and the church) is to change people (bring them to the Lord)
It is important to consider how people can be changed
Three (3) ways by which men have been changed

         1. By Force

    2. By Purchase

    3. By Persuasion

A. Changed by Force

1.Men and nations have been changed by use of physical force

2. When a persons life or physical welfare or position is sufficiently threatened                     by use off force many (perhaps most) will submit to another's will...

3.History books are filled with examples of this kind of change -                                                    Mohamed &  Crusades,  Hitler,  etc.

Matt 24:9  Then shall they deliver you up unto tribulation, and shall kill you: and ye shall be                           hated of all the nations for my name's sake. 10  And then shall many stumble, and shall                              deliver up one another, and shall hate one another.

John 12:42  Nevertheless even of the rulers many believed on him; but because of the                                 Pharisees they did not confess it, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:                                               43  for they loved the glory that is of men more than the glory that is of God.

 B. Changed by Purchase
1.If sufficient price or consideration is offered many (maybe most) will                                   change their lives to conform to the will of the purchaser.

2. Readily see in area of wages or bribes and other temptations…

Matt 26:14  Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests,   15  and said, What are ye willing to give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they weighed unto him thirty pieces of silver.   16  And from that time he sought opportunity to deliver him unto them.

Jude 11  Woe unto them! For they went in the way of Cain, and ran riotously in the error of Balaam for hire,

2 Pet 2:15  forsaking the right way, they went astray, having followed the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the hire of wrong-doing;

Rev 2:14  But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there some that hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit fornication.

John 12:42  Nevertheless even of the rulers many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess it, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:  43  for they loved the glory that is of men more than the glory that is of God.

C. Changed by Persuasion

2 Cor 10:3  For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh  4  (for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the casting down of strongholds),    casting down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ;

This is why Jesus said, "Go teach all nations...."

persuade them - change them...

2. God is interested in people being persuaded to obey from the heart - - -

This is all we have or need – It is enough
We must not refuse or neglect to use it…

Act 18:4  And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and   persuaded Jews and Greeks.

Act 19:8  And he entered into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, reasoning and persuading as to the things concerning the kingdom of God.

a. Neither has anything to do with changing the mind of the individual

b. They might change someone’s actions, but will never change one’s convictions

c. Belief in what is right cannot be imposed on the human mind by either force or purchase…

d. Even the change of conduct wrought by these methods lasts only as long as the inducement…

3. It should be obvious neither force nor purchase is acceptable in trying to change others

2. Has/does happen:
